The year has been ever so testing, i have only had problem after problem with the bike which has been really been getting to me, i arrived at this race hoping i only have to worry about getting round rather than more problems, MY GOD the bike worked,
i arrived and pit with two amazing riders and they brought some amazing people which helped with my head space and the changing of settings and parts on the bike and i cant thank them enough, Brandon, Richy, Sophie and Arron thank you from the bottom of my heart, the picture above from BJB sums up my feelings of how i felt emotions where felt with such a buzz from the results of the weekend, i would also love to thank the organizers, marshals and everyone who allows such an amazing meeting run so smoothly and i find it such an honor to be aloud to race with the biggest names in the road racing series, i would also love to thank all the spectators who came to support in such poor weather.
So the weekend, i spent the whole weekend on Wet tires it was horrible but still didn't stop us, i want to thank JCR Motorsport for the set of wet tires i think i just found my favorite make,
saturday morning i got out on my 3 warm up laps and spent most of the time trying to hold the bike drifting around nearly every corner, it was ever so greasy, i played around with my wet settings and it didn't feel amazing but couldn't work out what was the problem as i really struggled in all hair pins, so i thought it might just be me holding on for dear life, so left it till i could work out what i was feeling,
very shortly i got out on qualifying, i was just out to build on the laps i done, in the process i was getting quicker and very quickly found out why i felt not great in the warm up laps, the bike didn't want to turn at all so i spent the rest of the session getting time on the bike but knew changes to come,
when i got back in i know my lap time was ok but wasn't ready for what i was about to see, "I MADE IT IN THE FEATURE RACE" my heart was going ten to the dozen, what the hell am i doing there, so i played around with some more settings to see if i can get the bike turning better,
RACE 1
i was 18th on grid, with the rain getting heavier, i was worried about this i went out with the idea if i struggle to see i am coming straight in, i set off from grid but gave a bit of a gap into turn 1 as the spray was full of muck and know if it was over my visor i cant clean it, so i kept pushing to just again see how my settings on the bike worked, i think i managed 3 laps and i couldn't see a thing i started to guess Jeffry's jumps and that was the point i knew to get back, it was too dangerous for me and everyone else so i chose to retire but i knew the bike felt better,
RACE 2
started from 19th this time, set off from grid and tried to tag on to the rider just in front got out of the essess at the top and flew past to try and catch the next rider, as i was approaching the second hairpin on the track i saw the yellow flags being waved frantically so backed of got round to see 4 bikes and riders in the road, thank god i teach the slalom as a job, that put me to the test (i think i would have passed) and got back on with it, as the red flags came out for a restart, restart and got my head down and aimed to tag onto some guys who are a lot faster just to get a tow, i held on for a lap or two but was chuffed with how long i did hold on, i crossed the line in 11th place, this is more of a dream than i ever thought, i was tempted to ask my mate to slap me to make sure i wasn't dreaming, my lap time was my PB in the wet, i looked at my rear tire and could see it didn't seem like my settings on the back matched, another racer came over (Greg Haylott) and spoke me though a couple of things and had a quick play with the back just said "see how you feel"
Race 3
The Hard work a perseverance payed off, i started again from 19th, got my head down and pushed i was wheeling out of most corners jumping the jumps (no pictures, so its not official Yet) and the bike went so well it did not move once out of place i know i can push harder and i felt really good, i crossed the line in 7th with the fastest lap time i have ever been round the mount on wet tires, i said to myself at the start of the year that i just want to see if i can just get 1 point in the championship just to say i did it in a national Road Racing series, so after this weekend i walked away with 14 points, i'm still buzzing now this is better than anything i ever could dream of
i also know i couldn't do this without the support of my family, my friends and everyone who believe in me, i can not thank you all enough
i also couldn't do this with all the product and support from the company's and people who believe in me, helping my dreams as a disabled racer become more than true
