I will appoligise for the late update but here it is....
me and jon arrived on the Thursday to get set up and ready for the hardest race to date, but glad i had the experience of the gold cup last year which allowed me to be more level headed as i had an understanding of what to expect,
Saturday morning we had 3 laps practice to get a feel of it again and try and get my head in the game, with a new untested bike, on theses 3 laps i found the brakes weren't working as well as they should which in turn i couldn't get confident but great start to where i can improve,
which left me to test the bike more on qualifying, we sorted the few issues and went out guns blazing, but after a lap or two when i started to try and push on, i couldn't change gear properly and the bike started to throw fuel out over me so called it quits as the last thing i wanted to do is become Ghost Rider, but even with those problems i didn't qualify last i was row 5 11th on Grid, i knew full well i had more in me
Race 1, i always struggle with my grid starts so knew how hard this was going to be fighting for a place through the first hairpin, but got my head down and cracked on, i was following another racer and knew i had to get passed i felt slightly held up, we came into hel drop as i made my move out the hairpin, i felt good i took him going down into mountside hairpin and again started to look for the next racer, i was gaining and by the time the first lap was finished i was on his back wheel, i was watching what he was doing i saw he had a very good pace and was great watching for tips, i was content i followed him getting more and more confident knowing the racer was doing a very good lap time and kept with him, starting 11th i finished 10th overall, over the moon was an understatement but know full well i had more in me and the bike,
Race 2 on sunday morning, i moved forwards on the grid which again didn't expect but had to keep it, from grid start i took the fight into the hairpin, i was holding 4th from the back and held it, i took straight to the back wheel of the guy in front and held on, i stayed with the pact till after lap 2, which i smashed my personal best lap time in the second lap and felt comfortable, until i started lap 3, my gears started to go, i couldn't select gears which took my confidence away coming into the corners, i was gutted, i limped the bike round until checked flags but finished 8th over all, when i came back in i was covered in fuel again, and chose not to compete in the last race,
but even with problems over the weekend, i beat myself every time and finished higher than i started the race everytime,
the engine is out the bike ready for a gear box and sort out the fuel but i cant ask for more than what was achieved from the weekend
