hardest Race to date, but my god what a result.
So this start of the day set me for the way the weekend went, after leaving the Barry Sheene in a very wet weekend i performed better in the wet than i ever have in the dry, this got my mind set knowing full well i can go quicker than that especially in the dry, the day started with beautiful sunshine and a hot day to lead ahead, my aim this weekend was to see if i could get to a lap time of 2 minutes 10 seconds by the end of the weekend, just keep chipping away at my lap time and just keep achieving something better than the last time.
so warm up 3 laps was really good, went out felt comfortable and my most surprising not many racers came past (i know its warm up but it seemed different) but this again gave me a bit more of a buzz than it has in the past,
so i now waited till qualifying, by the time it came i was in a really good mind set and headed out with a clear head, i think i went out nervous but in a really good place, there was a few new riders there who i know are stupidly fast, as i left to go to track i just got my head down and cracked on, again i didn't notice as many people passing me, the ones i did i really noticed that they didn't just disappear like they normally do (not saying i'm anywhere near what they can do) i saw one of my friends Brandon Write just ahead and thought to myself just catch and hold on, so i did, something didn't feel completely right so i pulled off early, it was more me than anything else but i was over the moon about the performance,
soph from Brandon Brinded Racing came charging over and told me what i have just done, i smashed my target that i wanted to gain by the end of the weekend my fastest lap was 2 minutes and 9,082 seconds, i couldn't ask any more than what i have just achieved, this just left me short of the feature race, by 0.4 of a second this was amazing, but i now know what i can do,
so i was in the support race but with one hell of a lap time, the standard of racer at these events are all in another level so to be that close is an honor in itself,
Race 1, i didn't mind where i was i'm was still well over the moon knowing i could go quicker i just needed to find my flow, i know i was leading the 700 twins on the grid but also know i was going to loose that on my grid start,
lights went out and off we went, nearly every rider behind me came through, but i took the long way round the hairpin and managed to get nearly all my places back, then got my head down to find my flow, after a lap or two i felt really good and saw a rider in front so i used him as a target, i found i was stronger in a lot of the track but noticed a few places hes much stronger which i did already know but amazing how much off the pace i am,
i gained on him and felt really good to the point i felt held up at a few places (not that hes slow) so i made my move it was a very sketchy move but there isn't many places that aren't,
as we came down to the hairpin he had the inside line so i took the fastest line out to get back, it worked, then i pushed to keep the place, after a few corners i was looking ahead to see if i got someone else to try and use to draw me along but there wasn't, this is the first time since i started racing i had no one to draw me along so kept pushing to the checker flags,
Dan crossed the line 0.13 seconds behind me, which gave me a lap time of 2:07.308, i've just taken 7 seconds off my Personal Best on one of the hardest tracks i've ever been on and not only that the reason why i had no one to follow after i got through was because i just had my first ever Class Win, the timing sheet even said race winner - Chris Ganley, this is something i have always said, i will never win a race due to not being able to physically move the bike around the way the other racers can, I HAVE JUST PROVED MYSELF WRONG, also there have been many comments from individuals that i have also proved wrong
so after my success of saturday i had a really good head space, i went out on grid and prepared for my warm up lap, i fluffed up my pull away and got into my own head, race started and i couldn't find my head space i think i was trying to hard which just made my mind go to bits, i had a head wobble at about lap 4 and started to clear my head again and started to find my flow but it was too late by then, i was sat in second in class and started to draw in first but by that time my aim was not to let him go out of sight, i didn't feel fast but quick enough crossing the line in second,
the bit that got me tho was my lap time, i didn't feel fast by my lap time said different, 2:08.160 which was just under a second slower than the day before, this lap time was still 2 seconds quicker than what i aimed for by the end of the weekend, it also didn't feel uncomfortable,
so last race of the weekend with how i felt from previous race my aim was just to sit behind Dan and just learn off of him, which i did, i was comfortable and just wanted to leave on a high, so again i finished second in class crossing the line 0.2 behind 1st, not only that i just done another Personal Best 2:07.125 which leaves me with a goal for my next attempt at Oliver's Mount, i want a 2 minute 5 second lap,
i cant do all of this without the support of my family, my friends and the support given by the fans and spectators, i honestly cant thank everyone enough you all are amazing thank you from the bottom of my heart,
everyone who has come on board to support my impossible dream which again cant be achieved by the incredible sponsors, without the kit, the parts lubricants and everything that helps the bike go and stop your support is priceless
