It’s been an incredible journey and it still keeps giving !
With the amazing generosity from everyone on the Just giving page and people that have contacted me privately to donate gifts to help me get back to where I left off before the fire, you have all been simply outstanding!!!
Words can NOT describe how I felt when we were finally in a position to get the new R6 on the start line and compete with Thundersport GB for 2021 !!
I truly have no word left to thank the hundreds of people that have donated and helped me after the awful fire that destroyed everything I had at the Bridgewater and Taunton college.
Can I extend my gratitude even further to Clevedon Motorcycles who not only took the bike in after the fire but have helped put it back together from scratch working late nights and weekends to try get the bike competitive and running again, I can’t thank them all enough.
My first race report isn’t that long as things didn’t go quite to plan over the weekend, We all set up camp at Snetterton and started preparing the small things that were just not possible until we got to the circuit.
My first outing on the bike was in qualifying, I got a lap in to set a time but the gear lever broke forcing me into the pits, I had logged a time and was on the grid though ! that’s all that mattered to me to be honest.
It was wet and cold, I didn’t mind though as the rain is a great leveller in racing, I started quite well but knew I was lacking in power for some unexplained reason. I felt I gained in the corners but lost out on the long straights with the power issue, this forced me to push where I knew I was strong. Unfortunately pushing too hard I lost the front end in the hairpin , this put the bike down so hard it cracked the engine cover, I went down hard along with eight other riders. I’ve never felt so awful and guilty when I've been racing. As the lads say, unfortunately that’s a racing incident, Its not like I went to do this on purpose. I did feel awful though !!
As you can see in the photographs the bike was not going to get repaired for the rest of the weekend. I had enough time on track to no what needs to be done for the next round though.
Onwards and Upwards !
Thank you all for your support,
I would like to thank my family, friends and sponsors
