I arrived at Mallory Park in Leicestershire on Friday evening as there was no test day so straight into qualifying on the Saturday morning, I was out with the GP1 Elites and GP1 sportsman who are extremely fast and do some very good but close overtakes, this was good as it dragged me along and got my confidence up for the race.
I qualified 14th on the grid which i was extremely pleased with, I tried to push harder with qualifying which helped for the race, I was held up by one rider and had a good battle with him to get passed, this gave me more confidence in trying to push harder and faster out on circuit. I finished the race in 5th but couldn't break the 1 minute although I was so close.
A very similar situation to race one but the rider I was battling with was all over my bike in the straights but I was all over him in the corners, I kept poking my nose through pushing him trying to make him make some sort of mistake to get in front he made a massive error coming out of The Devils Elbow by taking a wide sweep out of the exit, this gave him no traction and his back end came round ! A massive high side followed. he hurt himself but he’s ok, a little battered and bruised but will be back to fight another day I’m sure. I finished in 5th again but really enjoyed the battle until he had the accident.
On Sunday morning I couldn't get my head into it but still pushed, I was not as quick as I’d wanted to be but still finished the race in 5th position again.
I knew I was in a similar place to the last race so I attached myself to a few faster riders and held onto the back of them, I got my fastest lap times for the weekend but everyone was getting faster anyway, I finished the race in 6th but got more out of that race than the others all weekend.
I would like to thank my family and friends who have been with me helping me to keep achieving my goal from the start.
I would also like to thank my sponsors who allow me to do what I’m doing.
