I arrived at Donington Park on Thursday evening, I wasn't going to test on Friday as my bike is too loud for the limit of 98 decibels, but I wanted to get ready for the first race of the season.
On Saturday morning I went out on Qualifying session one to see the track and get a feel of the bike again, I qualified on the grid 31st out of 38 riders. I was happy with this after so long off the bike over the Winter.
I did feel comfortable on the bike and was really ready for the first race. by the time race 1 came round the heavens opened up and we had a downpour, I'm not very confident in the rain but felt good to go out, I started in grid position 31 and started to pick people off lap after lap ! it was strange but I started to feel really comfortable in the wet. I finished race one gaining 16 positions and crossed the line in 15th making me 5th in class, I was extremely proud of. I kinda wanted the rest of the weekend to be wet after this result as I had such a great race in the horrible wet conditions.
Race 2 came round and it was dry, I wanted to see how I performed in the dry. again I started from 31st and finished race 2 with a slightly better lap time than my previous visit to Donington Park, My previous time was 1:21.024, I finished that race in 24th and 9th in class.
Race 3 was very similar to 1 and 2 but I was chasing people out of the corners but they just had a slightly faster bike in a straight line, this meant they just got in front of me so I couldn't out brake them into the next corner, my aim was to work on my grid start for the last race and try to improve, I finished race 3 in 26th position on grid and 11th in my class.
Race 4 - I pushed from the start and battled into the first few corners giving me a better time to push the bike and see what i'm capable of, I finished the race in 25th on grid and 10th in class but it wasn't my best result of the weekend but it gave me confidence with my grid starts and I got my best lap time of the weekend 1:20.651.
This was my first race of 2020 and in these uncertain times with Covid 19 can I thank Thundersport GB for a outstanding Race meeting, Can I also thank ever Marshal, all the medics and Doctors for there unquestionable devotion and dedication over the whole race weekend.
My first race back in 2020 and I left the circuit tired but extremely chuffed with myself with what I had just achieved especially in the wet conditions.
Thank you so much to my Family, Sponsors and the huge support and following I receive on Facebook and Twitter.
